So my graduation weekend didn’t go exactly as planned…but let me tell you about my first Revolve experience!
I have a bad habit of procrastinating things in order to avoid “jinxing” them. I didn’t tell friends and family to seriously book hotels until a couple months before graduation. Consequence: I slept on the floor and the rest of my family stayed at least an hour away. Oops. I didn’t take any pictures beforehand to send invitations or post on social media. Consequence: I had to ask one of my sweet, baby angel friends to stand out in the Mississippi heat months later to snap some pictures on her iPhone X. Which she graciously did, and you’ll see those results below. (Thanks, Meesh.) I waited until two weeks before graduation to order my dress and shoes. Yes. two weeks. Consequence: I ordered through Revolve.com and I got both in the nick of time, so this was the one thing I did right.
I am in love with the silky red dress and white tie-up shoe combo I found on Revolve. I have seen Revolve mentioned on Instagram by fellow bloggers I follow but never thought to check it out because I seriously love Asos, Boohoo, and ShopStyle for my occasion dresses. This time I needed something a little more, and I wanted it to be easy.
When I pulled up the Revolve.com page the first thing I noticed were the brands. Lots of high-end brands and beautiful ready-to-wear pieces, which was definitely intimidating. I didn’t click away though, I was curious what they had to offer. I clicked on the dresses category and narrowed down my sizes and colors and then the price as well. I love when a website offers this, especially when I am looking for something so specific.
I added a few favorites and sent pics to my family for help. I ended up going with a dress none of them had picked as their favorite, which is usually the case anyway. I placed my order on April 26th and recieved it May 1st. I was really happy with how quickly it shipped and although it was definitely more than I would usually spend on a dress, it is high quality and will last through many special occassions. Plus, I have some new favorite brands I discovered on Revolve!
I ordered my shoes after I recieved my dress. I had 3 to choose from, a blue pair, and white pair, and a gold pair. I knew after trying my dress on for the first time that the white pair would be the most complementary next to my skin and in contrast to the bright red of my dress. It helped that the pair I picked were on sale at the time! My orders both qualified for free UPS 2nd Day Air shipping, and they were able to process and ship over the weekend.
I didn’t have time to really break in the new heels before I had to wear them all day, especially the ever important walk to recieve my diploma. I expected some uncomfortableness considering the stiletto heel, and the day of graduation I was worried about being late so I had to run in them across campus. The pair I chose also tied up the calf a bit and I was really concerned that they wouldn’t stay tied like so many pairs I have worn in the past. I really love the tie-up style, and own several sandals and heels that are similar, so I am always super bummed when they don’t stay tied.
One thing that helped was the fabric the shoe was made out of, it was a thick linen and the straps themselves were wide. So, if crossed nice and flat to make an X in the front and double-tied into a bow in the back they stayed pretty well. I also found that if I tied them while standing up and bending over it would tie it in the correct position.
If you have a special occassion coming up, I highly reccommend Revolve.com! They have fewer brands than ShopStyle so it isn’t overwhelming, and the selections are nicer than most of the dresses on sites like Boohoo. Plus the shipping options and frequency of sales make it great if you’re low on time and budget, like me!
